Dog walking in Charlcombe and Lansdown, Bath
Local walks in the fields, lanes, and countryside above Bath. A walker who knows the area inside out.
Walking where I know best
Charlcombe and Lansdown are where I walk most often. I know the footpaths, the fields, the quiet lanes, and the spots where dogs can run safely off-lead. This is proper countryside on the doorstep of Bath, and it's ideal for dogs who love space, variety, and fresh air.
The terrain varies from flat meadows to wooded valleys and open hilltops. I choose routes based on the weather, the season, and the needs of the dogs I'm walking that day. In summer we stay in the shade of the valley. In winter we stick to firmer ground on the higher paths.
If you live in Charlcombe, Lansdown, or the upper part of Bath, collection and return is quick and easy. I'm usually within five minutes of most addresses in this area.
Routes I walk regularly
Charlcombe Valley
A sheltered valley with meadows, woodland, and a stream. Excellent for dogs who love water and exploring. Mostly off-lead with good visibility. One of the best walks near Bath for dogs who need space to run.
Lansdown Fields
Open fields and footpaths along the top of Lansdown with views across the city. Good for energetic dogs who need a long walk. Exposed in bad weather, so I use this route on calmer days. Well-drained ground means it holds up in winter.
Charlcombe Lane and Woolley Valley
A circular route from Charlcombe Lane through quiet lanes and into the Woolley Valley. A mix of road, track, and footpath. Good for dogs who walk well on-lead as well as off-lead sections through fields.
